Shashank Udapurkar : an engineer who made his place in Bollywood

A couple of months ago, I posted a review of a Marathi Movie – Prawaas, which is directed by Shashank Udapurkar. Little did I know that soon I will be interviewing the director himself on Baton Baton Mein.

“You cannot discover a new ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” These words are perfectly suitable for my today’s guest. Having the movie “Anand” as his source of inspiration, he stepped into city of dreams-Mumbai to fulfill his acting dream. Neither did he have any contacts from the film industry nor anyone from his family into the industry; life wasn’t very easy for him. But with his honesty, hard work, and inner zeal, he successfully changed his passion into his profession. Please welcome Shashank Udapurkar – actor, writer, and director.

Shashank Udapurkar : an engineer who made his place in Bollywood

After completing his education in Electronics & Electrical Engineering and later setting up his own business, Shashank Udapurkar wanted to fulfill his hidden desire to act in films. Initially, he did theatre and a few movies. Then in 2016, he stepped into the film direction field and directed the biopic “Anna”. In 2020, he directed a drama film, “Prawaas”. Based on a very simple-sounding story plot, Prawaas won the hearts of many. Prawaas has been nominated in the 51st International Film Festival of India 2020, Indian Panorama, and Rajasthan International Film Festival. It has also been selected for ICFT -UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Awa

Not just this, recently AMFF – Ambar and Bharari Akhil Bharati Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal has nominated Prawaas in 16 categories. Isn’t that awesome?
