As a woman, especially a mom always on the go, it can be tough to decide how to meaningfully invest in yourself. Sometimes we’re unsure what exactly is going to provide the most value and truly make an impact. Here are some starter points on where to focus your energy when it comes to investing in your true self:

  • Eat more fruits and veggies: The USDA’s dietary guidance system suggests that half of each meal consumed should include fruits and vegetables. Not only are fruits and veggies healthy for our bodies and provide us with enough energy to accomplish our day, they’re also easy to incorporate to every meal. Try adding berries to your yogurt in the morning, use zucchini noodles instead of regular pasta and pack an apple in your purse to have as a snack on the go. Pass the healthy habit down to your children and pack a lunch filled with nutritional foods! You’ll soon notice the health benefits from eating fruits and veggies and you will feel better than you ever did before.

  • Purchase quality wardrobe staples: Your wallet will thank you for this particular investment. I know you’re probably wondering how making a purchase will help your wallet, but finding quality items of clothing that last a long time will allow you to hold onto these products without worrying that something will go wrong. For example, finding a bra where the underwire isn’t digging into your rib cage or a pair of jeans that won’t fade after the first wash is a struggle when you give yourself a low spending limit. But if you
put a little more money towards bras that are known to last long, or investing in a pair of jeans that look new even after a few washes won’t have you worrying about replacing them for a long time! Your bank account will be happy and you’ll feel more confident knowing what you’re wearing will last through all of your important mom duties!

  • Make more time for yourself: As someone who is always busy, it can feel awkward spending any amount of time by yourself. But carving out a little time each day to reflect and focus on yourself, alone, allows you to set the right intentions while staying calm and present in your mind. Finding time for yourself is very important in self-care. For starters, taking 5 to 10 minutes to meditate each morning when you wake up will get your day off to the right start. With the ever growing evolution of technology, there are plenty of meditation apps to fulfill whichever kind of mindfulness you are searching for. You might find it difficult to find some alone time at first, but it
will get easier the more you start to appreciate the time you take for yourself. A clear mind will help you make logical decisions and you’ll feel happier in your life overall.

The relationship you have with yourself is the most important. Finding the right personal investments will benefit you immensely in practicing self-care. The stronger of a relationship you have with yourself, the better woman, mom and role model you can be for others. How do you plan to invest in pampering yourself?
