I wanted to do this craft for a very long time. Finally, tried it over the weekend. Once again, it was with Mod Podge. You can check my previous Mod Podge craft – Decorative Jars. Today’s craft can be done without a lot of preparation. All you need is a glass plate, some tissue papers and mod podge. I have shared one tissue paper craft too. Feel free to check our Candles craft with tissue paper. Before further delay let start today’s craft – Decoupage a glass plate – let’s change simple into something decorative
You will need:
- Clear Glass Plate
- Mod Podge
- Tissue Papers
- Foam Brush
Lets begin:
- First clean your glass plate. Look for any dust particles and clean that up. If there is any sticker on it, remove that. Check the decorative jar (mentioned above) craft to know how to remove the stickers neatly.
- Take a sheet of tissue paper and cut a square slightly bigger than the plate.
- With the help of foam brush, generously apply mod podge on the back side of the plate. Make sure you cover the entire plate including the edges.
- Place your tissue paper square on the plate. Let the printed side face towards you. This way you will see the design through the glass. This step is very important. It’s wet so it will be delicate. Be careful not to press it too hard otherwise you will tear it. Apply moderate pressure enough to remove any creases.
- Place the plate, upside down on a glass. Let it sit there until it dries out completely.
- Once it is completely dry, apply the second layer of mod podge on the back side of the plate (on the tissue paper). This will act as a sealant for the paper.
- Repeat the drying step just the way you did it earlier.
- Once it is completely dry, trim the excess rim. And you have your decorative plate ready.
- Festival season is coming. If you are looking for affordable, economical decorative plates that can match the seasonal theme then try this craft. I am sure you will enjoy it.
Note:
- Use it only to serve dry food items like cookies, cakes.
- If you want to clean it, use a dry towel or paper towel.
- Do not microwave it.
Uses:
You can also use it as a decorative plate or on your bedroom side table to put your jewelry, earrings, rings or may be in your bathroom for arranging you nail polishes or lipsticks.
I hope you liked today’s craft. Do give it a try.
Happy crafting !!

Very nice and simple DIY with good results! I was wondering if you could add step by step pictures as it helps in following the steps.
This was my first attempt so wasn’t sure about the results. But I am just a message away if you plan to make it.
