Can an egg be our teacher? Let’s find out!

While thinking about what to write on this word prompt – “Egg”- the first thought that came to my mind was posting a cake recipe. But then my daughter suggested that I should write something related to our life. She said we talk a lot about onion and its layers. We compare it with someone’s nature. But according to her, we also learn a lot from an egg. So, I started to brainstorm about different forms of egg consumption.

I hope you will like my perspective on looking at an egg. But first, I would like to extend my thanks to my daughter for this idea. She is also one of the guest writers on this blog. You can check her submission here.

Can an egg be our teacher? Let’s find out!

Boiled egg: We all like boiled eggs. When we cook eggs, we know when they are perfectly boiled. When we break the shell, they are hard and firm but have a lovely yellow, bright, and soft yolk. Similarly, we should learn to be strong and stick to our decisions. But we should have warmth, just like the soft yolk.

Poached Eggs: I have never tried making or tasting poached eggs. A perfectly poached egg seems so gentle and delicate. I few that it teaches us to be soft and take a stride if situations demand. So, don’t be afraid to try making a poached egg.🙂 Think of the reward of the risk that you will be taking.

Egg Curry: How many of you like egg curry? Well, I make it once in two weeks. Sometimes, if I don’t have veggies but have eggs in my fridge, I am sorted. Egg curry with some biryani or chapati, and I am worry-free about what to cook? Sometimes it even gives my menu a variety when I have some guests over. You see, you can make a fancy curry with something simple like an egg. Same logic applies in our life as well. We can create something special out of something simple. We all like fancy things, but inspiration can also come from simple things. The same rule applies to Egg Bhurji or scrambled eggs in a fancy way.

Mayonnaise: A few weeks ago, I was looking for a full-proof recipe to make mayo. And in multiple recipes I understood that the key to making a classic mayo is fresh eggs and lots of patience while the eggs emulsify with the oil. What we have is a creamy mayo. In life also, we need the patience to achieve our dreams. Good things take time, and with patience, we can reach new heights.

Omelette: How can I miss this? After a boiled egg, an omelet is one of the go-to breakfast dishes we can make with an egg. Add cheese to it, which takes regular omelette to a new level. By the way, do you know there is a difference between the American way of cooking an omelette and European way? In the same way, we don’t need anything complicated to live a happy life. Honesty, love, affection and a little bit of humor. That’s it.

Cakes: When baking a dish, we must follow the exact steps. Starting from the ingredients list to the time, it ruins the dish if we go wrong at any step. For example, while baking a cake, if we go over time, our cake will lose its texture, and if we under-bake, it will remain raw.  Same happens in life decisions. If we take more time, then we are unnecessarily making things complicated. So, think about what needs to be done, its plus and minuses, and take action.

So, how was it? Do you want to add any other lesson or dimension to what we learn from an egg? Please drop your ideas in the comment section.

  1. What an amazing post and such lovely and inspiring lessons from an egg. We must endure intense pressure to become stronger and more resilient, but should not be aftraid of vulnerability and openness… loved this learning from the boiled egg.

  2. Your article on using an egg as a teaching tool is refreshingly unique and engaging. I appreciate how you seamlessly weave in science concepts with practical activities for children.

  3. Eggs be it in any form you can serve me as I am a die heart fan of eggs and even I can overlook other non veg if egg is there on plate. Now coming to the connection you established with each form of egg servings is something that I really liked… by the way I tried poached egg and its yum. Mayonnaise is one option which I never tried but now I will… we need to strong yet sober like boiled eggs, soft and kind like poached egg, impressive and presentable like curry, simple yet cool like a yummy omelette and patient like the Mayonnaise. Wonderful post
