Recently, I came across a couple of my co-blogger’s posts on the topic “its my choice”. And see the coincidence that I recently watched a web series on Zee5 that somewhat revolves around the same topic.I am talking about “Saas-Bahu Achaar Pvt Limited”. This sweet and spicy web series talked about how a mother can fulfill her professional calling despite many hardships in her life. It was like a treat to watch the flawless performance by National Award winner actress Amruta Subhash. She has effortlessly delivered her character and brought all the simplicity which is the USP of this entire series.

From my previous recommendations, you must have gotten an idea that I recommend only those TV shows or movies on my blog which leave an impact on me and my thought process.

Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt Limited – a sweet and spicy web series

“Saas-Bahu Achaar Pvt Limited” is one such web series that will make you laugh on several occasions and also make you nostalgic. It will show you the bright side of hard work and grit and also raise the curtain from the mentality of those who think that “kam padhe likhein” (less educated) people cannot dream big or they cannot get success.

Plot:

Set up in the backdrop of Daryaganj and other locales of old Delhi, this is a perfect glimpse into the life story of an ordinary woman who is not educated enough and is groomed to only look after her house. However, her life is turns upside down when her husband, her primary supporter, abandons her and leaves her. For a homemaker whose life used to revolve around her family, it is difficult to get life back on track after her divorce.

Suman is a middle-aged woman who embarks on an entrepreneurial journey by selling homemade achaar (pickle) to become financially independent and reclaim custody of her children from Dilip. Will Suman be able to become self-reliant and fulfill her dream? Who will help her with this, or will she have to do it alone? Will her lack of education come in her way? Let’s see…

About Suman’s dream:

After getting divorced, Suman wants to be self-reliant. Her kids live with her husband Dilip. But without getting financially strong, how would she be able to take care of two kids? She is not educated to have a proper job. But she has Maa Annapoorna’s blessings on her. Suman is a strong-will-powered woman. So she decides to start her Pickle business. In this, she gets support from her mother-in-law and her neighbor Shukla ji.

Is the road towards setting up a pickle business easy?

Not at all. Suman is very emotional and thinks that she would be able to convince people to buy her pickle. But if converting an idea into a successful business was so easy today, many would have been doing their own business. After much hesitation, Suman, her mother-in-law, and Shukla Ji, start to sell her pickle by the name “Wonder Achaar”. People like her unique taste but every time, she has to take one step back, and she is back to square one. She gets selfless help from housemaids who help the pickle to reach different homes. But does business run in this manner? Suman does not lose hope and tries different ways of reaching out to people. Finally, she gets one big order from a restaurant owner, but when she is ready to deliver the order, the restaurant owner gives her some business lessons and rejects her order.

Turning point:

This incident was enough to put Suman into a complete give-up mode. But she doesn’t give up. She decides to give her last try. And boom…. “Wonder Achaar” reaches every home, and it started to give tough competition to other established brands. This news spread like fire.

Suman’s entrepreneurial journey:

Suman gets a call from a news channel to talk about her journey. For the first time in her life, she faces a camera. Suman talks about her struggle after Dilip divorced her and what kept her going despite all the hardships. She also tells how she lost faith in her God. But now, she is ready to start over again.

Lines that stole my heart:

“Rekhaaon ne to sabki manzil tay kar rakhi hai, iska matlab yeh thodi na hai ki hum apna karm hi na karein (Fortune lines have already decided everyone’s destination, but that doesn’t mean we should not put effort),” tells Suman to the priest. He sees her palm to predict her future.

Take away from Saas-Bahu Achaar Pvt Limited:

1.There is always a chance to start again.

2.One must have inner zeal to fulfill their dreams.

3.Challenges can be temporary setbacks, but they cannot take away your dreams from you.

4.Manisha is shown as a sweet and caring stepmother, different from the typical stepmother portrayal. Along with her son, she also looks after the two kids while Suman sets up her business.

5.Suman’s mother-in-law’s support played a significant role in her journey; she doesn’t hesitate to steal jewelry from her new daughter-in-law to finance Suman’s business.

Final words:

Even of the ending is predictable but, the simplicity and ease of the characters will make this series worth watching. If you want to enjoy a light web series which is different from the bland, stereotyped shows then do wat Saas-Bahu Achaar Pvt Limited.
