To nurture yourself is not selfish. It’s essential for your well-being and for your survival

Nurturing yourself is not selfish. It’s essential for your survival and for your well-being. Sometimes, it’s our own love that we need the most and first. When we are babies, our mother nurtures us with all her care and unconditional love. We grow and slowly become independent. Our thinking ability also grows and take different shades. We start becoming manipulative and loose that purity in our thoughts. We start to practice certain traits like selfishness, lust, hatred, disgust, and anger. Sometimes, it surprises us to see how we have changed. But that natural. We are humans. We all are born with these emotions. So obviously, it will come in the picture at some point in time.

It’s not why we behave how we behave but is our behavior, or sentiments, our state of mind is affecting our soul? Is it disturbing our inner peace? If that is the case, then it’s not right. No matter what the situation is, no matter how angry or upset we are, we should be able to control our emotions. Controlling doesn’t mean suppressing. It means finding a balance in life. It means differentiating between right and wrong. It’s about using our intellect to maintain sanity and serenity.

We tend to focus on nurturing our body by catering to its needs while neglecting the requirements of the soul. Our soul is like a baby. It takes the shape of the thoughts we fill it with. It is like that small infant who we have to nurture with our love, care, and thoughtfulness. We have to teach our mind to be positive, see good things and do not get disturbed from any negative thoughts. If we feed it healthy thoughts, then it will stay healthy. If we depend on junk food, then the thoughts will be weak. It will not be strong and will get affected by outdoor allergies very quickly. To build up its immunity we have to treat it with care, nurture it with growth and feed it with love.

Just for today,

in this moment of time

May your heart flow with joy

May your spirit align with the beauty of the Earth

And may the silver linings cover your soul.
