As summer is approaching, we have to take care of our skin differently. All the dirt, pollution, and sweat must come from our skin. More than washing it with soap or face wash is required. We need to use regular facial scrubs to remove dead skin. Poor exfoliation is a leading cause of blackheads and whiteheads, some of the most common signs of acne. Once the dead skin is removed, moisturizer will be appropriately absorbed, leaving the skin smooth.
Regarding simple face or body scrubs ingredients, my favorites are coffee, sugar, and red lentil. In this post, let’s dig deeper into the importance of facial scrubbing. I am also sharing a few of my go-to homemade facial scrubs options. Please, read carefully the “caution” points I have mentioned at the end.
Starting with face scrub
The coarse particles in a scrub exfoliate our skin. So when we include facial scrubbing in our skin care routine, we get smooth and glowing skin.
Why do we need it?
Removes dead skin: A layer of dead skin keeps building up. If we do not remove it, our skin looks dull and dry. Removing them will make the skin.
Unclog the skin pores: Our skin needs natural moisture. And for that, it produces natural oil sebum. Recently, I read that when the skin produces excess sebum, it gets stored in our sin pores, causing them to clog. So, when we scrub, exfoliation removes the extra oil and opens the pores.
Removes flakes: Sometimes, our skin gets flaky and dry. Exfoliation can help in removing the flakes and provides smoothness.
It helps in reducing acne marks: Scrubbing cannot altogether remove acne scars. But it makes them lighter.
It improves the skin texture: With regular exfoliation, our skin gets better with time. It becomes more smooth, clear, and healthy.
Helps skin care products to be better absorbed: When the excess oil is removed, pores are not clogged, whatever skincare product we apply will be absorbed very nicely and bend easily with your skin.
Can we make facial scrubs at home?

How often should we use it?
They are made for a weekly skincare routine. But depending on your schedule and outdoor activities, you can use it twice a week.
What should we apply after using it?
A gentle moisturizer is must after using the face scrub. Make sure that your face is slightly damp when you apply the moisturizer.
Caution:
- Always use mild scrubs.
- Always massage in circular motions.
- Don’t rub the skin. Apply excess pressure may harm your skin.
- Massage in an upward direction concentrating around the nose and lips area.
- Use a scrub once a week.
- Always apply a good moisturizer after scrubbing.
I hope you will try these homemade scrubs. You will fall in love with your skin.
Agree with you, Alpana. I have been using homemade scrubs for a long time. As you said, the dead skin peels off, leaving the skin soft. I had many white heads before as my pores would be clogged, but after I have been using scrubs, they have reduced.
Thats great. Homemade scrubs are budget friendly and have great effects.
