We all need those relaxing moments to rejuvenate ourselves

When we know someone and their areas of expertise or work, it is natural for our conversation to get channelized towards those areas. But there is a lot that is beyond the area of work. This includes their hobbies, inner thoughts, childhood memories, and moments that are an integral part of their life or overall journey. To me, these are the things that complete any person. And when someone who you see as a mentor in many areas is interviewing and unfolding your life’s different stages, the conversation has to be candid. Recently, I had one such candid conversation with Ravish Mani on his show Sukun se Baatchit.

His Gravatar profile says – “I’m a simple guy who loves helping others.” I have seen him justifying these words. He is always there whenever anyone needs any guidance. He defines himself in three categories: by qualification, he is a Biotechnologist; by profession, a life coach and business & leadership consultant; and passion, a reader.

There was no reason to say no when Ravish approached me for this interview on his brand new Youtube channel. I knew it would be a meaningful conversation, and I am always up for any meaningful conversation. The best part of this session was that it was an impromptu conversation. I knew the name of the show, but I wasn’t very much sure about its outline. Before starting the recording, I asked him only one question – “what is it all about?” He said, “nothing much, we will talk at leisure.” That’s what the title says – Sukun se BaatChit. And yes, it was indeed a Sukun se BaatChit (Talk at leisure).

What amazed me was Ravish Mani’s in-depth research:

Let me tell you one thing which amazed me a lot. It was Ravish’s in-depth research. I must say he did strong research for this interview. As a guest, I felt honored that he spend so much time studying my work and asked some excellent questions.

I have interviewed many celebrities on my podcast, and I understand the hard work behind each interview. And I respect Ravish for coming up with such thoughtful questions. Another reason why I enjoyed our conversation was that he took me to my childhood days. I relived many memories while talking to him. We talked about my initial days in the USA, how I stepped into writing, and when did podcasting happen? We also talked about my love for psychology and much more.

Few unique questions :

Out of many questions that made this conversation fulfilling, one question I never came across in any interviews so far was why do I call myself an immigrant parent? Honestly speaking, I didn’t see this question coming. But as I said earlier, Ravish’s research and his unique way of seeing things allowed me to talk about it.

Not just this. When we talked about my podcast, he specifically mentioned a few episodes and asked me why I said what I said. As a podcast host, it is a feeling of accomplishment when my listener pays attention to the words I have used.

I request you all to listen to our conversation. Sukun se Baatchit with Ravish Mani and Alpana Deo

Thank you Ravish, for having me on your show and allowing me to recollect many beautiful memories. And for letting me “Be Me”.
