How many of you like to decorate your place according to the season? Or if you feel that is little too much for me then how about changing the decoration time to time? How many of you do that? I have already raised my hand. I love ethnic and elegant pieces when it comes home decoration. I do not believe in buying expensive pieces but I like to have a few varieties so that it can be replaced.
I remember a couple of months ago, one of my friends visited us and she loved a few of my decorative I pieces. She said, “I liked how you have decorated your place.” We live in an apartment. It is quite spacious, big rooms which give me ample scope to enjoy decorating them. But for many people, I have seen they feel restricted when it comes to decorating the apartment. They feel, if they live in a house then that will give them enough room to satisfy their decorative buds. To me, it doesn’t matter if it is a house or an apartment. Wherever you live – big or small, that’s your house.
When people move to new cities, they mostly start from apartments. Sometimes, they were living in a house before so they have accumulated most of their furniture accordingly. So now after moving to a small space, it’s challenging for them from decoration point of view. But sometimes small touch-ups can bring big changes in the decoration.
Before we go deep, these are the main things I keep in mind.
- Colors: curtains, cushions, bedsheets
- Furniture: positioning, functionality, utility
- Decorative pieces: ethnic, contemporary, trendy
- Lighting: lamp
- Plants
- Light shade curtains: Light shades gives a soothing feeling. Match the curtain color to your walls. It makes the room feel much larger.
- Accent furniture: Nowadays, there are many beautiful pieces that are available. Adding an accent furniture changes the entire look of the room. It can be a chair or an elegant side table.
- Multi-functional table: Choose furniture which has space to store objects. For example, on entry-way, an elegant piece of table that can function as a shoe rack would be a good option. coffee table with a shelf below, a bench with bins underneath, and an ottoman with a removable top and empty space inside.
- Hang a Mirror: We have a huge mirror in our dining space. That automatically makes space look bigger.
- Use floor space wisely: If the room is not very big to accommodate a lot of furniture then spread a nice rug and throw some cushions or tuck a cozy chair. Make use of corner space. Your cozy corner is ready.
- Lamps: Side lamps, floor lamps, pendant lights, wall scones – swap out regular boring lights with these options. Also keeping different light fixtures in different rooms change the look. For example, add a floor lamp and an overhead light fixture in your living room, a table lamp and pendant lights in your bedroom.
- Greenery makes even the smallest space feel fresher and lighter. If you don’t have a room for a floor plant then hanging plant is the option.
There are many other ideas that can be used to decorate smaller spaces. Time to time, I keep on looking for new ideas. During this search, I came across Apartments in North Bergen and I loved the style and amenities it offers to the residents. Sometimes apartments come with many amenities that you don’t have to put too many efforts in decorating. If you find one then I will call you really lucky.
So, now when festival season is around the corner, don’t restrict yourself from changing the look of your house. Good luck with decoration!!
