Last week, me and my daughter did some Christmas craft that she will be giving to her teacher as a gift. Last year we did one Candle Craft as a Christmas Gift. You can check the post here. This time, instead of stickers we used Adhesive Ribbons. I was actually looking for printed Duct Tape but I found Adhesive Ribbons. What could be better than that. I had Scented Candles at home. So, we did this Candle Craft using Adhesive tape and once again plain candles got converted into pretty decorative candles in no time. The second project that we did was Handmade Bookmarks. Both these projects “Candle Craft and Handmade Bookmarks” are fun to do.
Candle Craft
You will need:
- Candle – Scented or Unscented: its your choice
- Adhesive Ribbon or Printed Duct Tape or Washi Tape(washi tape is a paper tape that comes in pretty colors and patterns )- whichever you pick, have few of them in your box
- Scissors
- Jewels, Colored Stones or anything that you can find to go with the candle
Tip: You can use those big buttons which you are not using anymore or any of your earring.
Let’s start:
- Remove the plastic cover from the candle.
- Measure and cut the ribbon/tape you want to use. Cut little long to overlap the ends.
- And Stick it on the candle. I did it in two different ways.
- Now, if you want leave it as it is but we have planned to wrap it in a tissue paper that we use inside the gift bags and then loosely bring all the ends together, tied it with a ribbon.
Tip: If you want to use it as a center piece then you can pick one color say Red and collect polka dots ribbon, solid red, printed red ribbon. And candles of different heights. Arrange them on a pretty plate.
Handmade Bookmarks:
This is another project that we did for the teachers. For making these bookmarks, don’t hesitate using the scraps from your scrap paper. You need different colored and printed strips.
You will need:
- Scrap paper strips – equal to the number of bookmarks you want o make
- Ribbons pieces- equal to the number of paper strips
- Paper Punch
- Twine – optional
Let’s start:
- Cut your bookmarks to size you want. It should neither be too wide not too narrow. Mine were 4.5″x1.5″
- Decorate it as you want. You can write any message on it or just stick different shapes on it or to make it even simpler then just draw with markers.
- Punch a hole on the top. Tie a piece of ribbon through the whole.
- We piled up all the bookmarks and gently tied it with a piece of twine.
DONE!!
