Sunbathe and Swim at Rainbow Park

On a warm summer’s day one of the best places to be is Rainbow Park. Located on Alta Lake, it offers one of the area’s best swimming beaches and some of the most magnificent views. Immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery, soak up the sun, enjoy peaceful contemplation, and refreshing, cool dips in the sparkling glacial waters.

Soak Up the Scenery While Hiking the Trails

There are miles and miles of hikes that will bring you high up the mountain slopes but you’ll find plenty of short and sweet treks too. Only a few minutes south of the village is the Brandywine Falls trailhead. Just 1.25 miles round-trip, it leads to a lookout with a view of a gorgeous waterfall cascading 230 feet into a tranquil pool below. You can also walk down to its base for a closer look.

Another easy trail is the Fitzsimmons Accessible Nature Trail for some gentle meandering through nature. Close to the village, it winds through towering trees and provides a relaxing soundtrack with the gurgling sounds of Fitzsimmons Creek.

Explore Local Art and Culture

Whistler has a great arts and culture scene. There are many private art galleries to browse while the Cultural Connector is a route that will bring you through the village linking some of the most popular attractions. That includes the Whistler Museum, Audain Art Museum, Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, the Lost Lake Passiv House that was built for the Winter Olympics, and more.

Tee Off on a Scenic Golf Course

Golfing enthusiasts will find plenty of scenic 18-hole courses to tee off on in Whistler. It’s home to four award-winning golf courses that take full advantage of the Coast Mountain surroundings, making this a world-class destination for any golfer looking for fantastic scenery and challenging play.

That includes the Arnold Palmer-designed Whistler Golf Club Course and the Nicklaus North Golf Course, both set among a picturesque landscape that includes lakes, trees, and a stunning mountain backdrop.

Enjoy the Après Scene

At the end of any day you’ll be able to take advantage of an outstanding après scene, considered one of the world’s best, and it’s not just for after skiing. There’s an entire village dedicated to good times whether you’ve been relaxing, exploring art, golfing, hiking, or anything else. Whistler offers everything from casual beer patios to fine dining restaurants, upscale clubs, and lively bars.

You might start by sipping a brew under the sun on one of the outdoor patios like Merlin’s Bar & Grill with the largest in Whistler. The menu offers weekly après drink specials and delicious dishes made with local ingredients. It can be followed up by an evening of dancing to live music or DJs too.

  1. Sports are always fun and when we have good location with good facilities and guidance then nothing like that. Good to know about Whistler having so many of the winter sports.
