5 Tips on how to create an engaging content for your podcast

In the previous post, we discussed things to keep in mind before recording your podcast. When we talk about the prep-work, how to create good content also comes into the picture. Engaging content is the key on any podcast. Keeping your listeners engaged, and maintaining a good flow of thoughts is very important and challenging. Engaged listeners don’t just tune in to your channel not because they are looking for answers to their questions but they like to listen to you. If you’re going to create content, you need to make it so that audiences will not only like it but engage with it daily. How to do it?

  • Listen to your heart: When you prepare your script, always listen to your heart and along with that think from your listener’s point of view. If you want to get people to notice, engage and share your podcast, you need to make it about them, not you. Once you are ready with your script, do a dry run. Sometimes, reading it aloud makes things clear. If you find it not impressive or maybe repetitive then that’s what your listeners will think too. You should be satisfied with it before you present it to your audience.

  • Write what you strongly feel about: You can’t make engaging podcast content unless you like the topics. If you don’t find them interesting, there is a good chance you will not be able to leave a long-lasting effect. There has to be one area that you feel strongly about. It could be early education or women empowerment or pregnancy or parenting or anything else.

  • Be natural: If you want to create truly engaging podcast content, you have to be yourself. Don’t try to copy somebody else’s style. If you know how to add humor then definitely do so but if that is not your way then please don’t try. Your listeners will figure out that it’s not who you are.

  • Have a stronghold on your chosen topic: If you are comfortable in discussing parenting topics, then talk about that. If you think, you have enough thoughts regarding parenting issues and if you have confidence that you can create an on-going content for your audience, if you know that you would be able to touch many areas of parenting through your episodes then that’s your topic.

  • Create your unique style: You probably aren’t the only podcast in your niche. Create your style and present it in your way. I had a Marketing Professor who used to explain complex concepts through examples, advertisements and case studies. He was known for his style. Your listeners know you for your content and presenting style. If you are good at explaining through examples or by story-telling then go for it.

These are the pointers I follow when I prepare the content for my podcast. I hope this will help you to prepare your content.
