Social Distancing- Let’s make the most of time spent social distancing

Quarantine Time, social distancing is what we are listening to a lot these days. In the news, over messages, everyone is talking about the same topic. On top of that, kids are home; we are forced to do work for home. We all crave for holidays, we all want to have a relaxed morning, we don’t want to worry too much about setting up your routine. Today, quarantine time has given us a very relaxed morning, no worries about lunchbox options, we can get up late, but do we have the same feelings about this holiday? Do we want this holiday to extend so that we can enjoy this relaxing time?

Every time it is not our kids who make the holiday time challenging. Sometimes it’s the situation, or circumstances. And that’s exactly the reason for this holiday. I know it is frustrating and a little bit overwhelming too. We are not able to meet our friends due to social distancing, but there are a few other options that can sail us through during social distancing time. Let’s see how we can make the most of time spent social distancing?

  • Stop complaining – Stop complaining about the circumstances and stop blaming. This is not the first time we are not feeling good about what is happening. But did we complain all the time? I agree, this time situation is different. Due to social distancing, we are not able to meet our friends.  But we can’t do anything about it. Those who want to be happy can be happy irrespective of any situation, and those who cannot be happy will never be happy no matters how much good things are happening around them.

  • Time to give yourself some timeNow when we are following social distancing, we are getting more time with ourselves. Take a pause and think about your options. Is this what you wanted to do? Is this how you wanted your life to be. Life has forced this time on us. It’s a good time to re-think what matters to us the most. Look into your finances.

  • Understanding your working style –Most of us are bound to work from home, it is the perfect time to understand your working style. Are you a self-motivator or externally motivated person? Can we produce excellence from the comfort of our home? Are we able to cope up with the change in the routine? For a self-motivator, this time is also like their regular days. But for an externally motivated person, this time could be challenging. And that’s what we are going to learn about ourselves during this time.

  • Spend time with your family If social distancing has restricted us from meeting others, it has also given us opportunity to spend time with our family. Sit with your kids and talk to them about their topics. In the office rush, busy life, and hectic routine, we miss spending time with our family.

  • Getting in touch with your hobby- Spend your time in upgrading your skills. If you have any hidden hobbies, then this is the time to work on them. You might like photography or painting. It could be learning a new language, painting, writing, taking up a hobby, learning to play a musical instrument .Click pictures of your family and create fond memories that you can treasure for a long time. Let your kids also see your talent. Put together a schedule that incorporates all of the things that you want to accomplish and make sure you follow through on engaging in the activities.

  • Check on your health – You cannot go to the gym. But that should not be the reason not to workout. You can still burn calories and maintain good health even from the comfort of your home. Practice yoga, stretching, and basic exercises. You can find many online videos that will guide you for an at-home workout.

Whenever anything happens all of a sudden, it disturbs the balance, our routine, and peace of mind. But instead of cribbing over the situation, we can find a solution. It’s too easy to let the hours, days and weeks fly by without doing anything constructive. Use this extra time as a gift to be proactive. When it’s all over, you’ll enjoy a great sense of accomplishment and appreciate that you didn’t squander precious weeks or months of your life. Suggest me some of your options too.
