Past Can Hurt But…The Road To A New Me

We often come across situations which tests our courage and ability to stand every time we fall. Things are not always the same and life doesn’t go exactly how we want it. But we cannot lose hope and keep on getting upset. We have to stand up and face the situation. Every age group faces such a situation in their day-to-day life. Starting from a baby who is learning to walk. S(he) falls so many times but overtime he stands up and tries with double enthusiasm. For this post, I picked the quote “The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.”

Let’s see what Nita is going through..and let see if she can find her “New Me”

The Past can Hurt But...A Road To A New Me...

Nita decided to get married to her classmate Mihir who was also her childhood friend. This was no surprise for either of their parents. They knew each other very well that thinking about anyone else was totally out of question. Their parents were very happy as they knew the marriage will be a wonderful bond. Initial days were very pleasant. Everyday evening outings, weekend dinner out and friend’s meetups. Everything was very positive in the beginning. Life seems to be just perfect. Nothing was stopping them from enjoying each day the way they wanted. But sometimes only one small incident is enough to disturb everything. Same happened with Nita and Mihir. Nita got pregnant and soon they were blessed with a baby girl. With her arrival, things started to change a bit. Their previous lifestyle of carefreeness changed into planning, calculating. On one hand, Nita was trying to adjust to her new role and trying to understand Mihir’s expectations, Mihir was getting tensed seeing the rising expenses. Obviously, it was expected whenever they will have a baby, life will change. Mihir was not prepared for such a change in at that time. Nita quit her job and she was completely focusing on their newborn. It wasn’t easy for her as well to adjust with the changes and on top of that this unexpected change in Mihir’s attitude. Earlier helping supportive and every caring Mihir was now no-where. She was going through the Baby blues but Mihir was nowhere to soothe her down. She was still trying her best. In all this, one year passed by. They celebrated their little one’s birthday. Nita wanted a big party. She wanted to call her friends with who they used to hang out. She thought this will be a good time to reconnect with them. Mihir wasn’t very open for a big celebration from the expense point of view. Once again, the disagreement happened. In the end, Nita decided to settle down on a small family gathering.

Nita or nobody knew Mihir had different plans after their baby’s birthday. Next day, he went for work and didn’t come home. Nita called his friends but no answer. Then she called on of Mihir’s close friends. The answer she got was something she never expected from his childhood friend. Mihir had left them. She was shocked. How can he do such a thing? She could see Mihir wasn’t the same as earlier during last one year but she had a hope, he will be fine with time. But she never thought Mihir will pick this route. This was nothing but escaping.

But now what? She couldn’t stay like this for a long time. She cannot hold on to her past. Now when she knew he left them, she had to think of her daughter. She packed few clothes and decide to come to her parent’s place for a couple of days. She needed time to think, think differently now. Her parents never brought Mihir’s topics to her. They had a hope that Mihir will come back but 6 months passed by. During this time, Nita came out of her past, her comfort zone and started looking for a job opening. And luckily, she found one where she used to work before. Since her daughter was very young, she requested for this option and her company agreed on that. She bought a two-room flat and decided to move there with her daughter. This decision came as a surprise to her parents. They were seeing a new Nita in their daughter. She was more confident now. Maybe Mihir’s sudden absence had made her like this or her daughter’s presence has made her this strong. She decided to do upbringing of her daughter alone. He parents were there so she had the support system. When her biggest support system left them in the middle, she wanted to raise her daughter as an independent and strong girl. She wanted to start a new life. Seeing this, her parents and friends used to ask her, how she managed to be so strong even in such a situation. And her answer used to be “The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.”
