The two biggest fears people have is a dilemma about self-worth and being good enough dilemma. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) says, people often come to seek help when they face the two biggest fears – self-worth and G.E. Dilemma (good enough dilemma). In the previous post, we talked about Affirmations. I have also shared the podcast link. Today, we will talk about Self-worth.
We often use the word self-value interchangeably. These are two related terms that are used interchangeably. Having a sense of self-worth means that you value yourself, and having a sense of self-value means that you are worthy. The differences between the two are minimal enough that both terms can be used to describe the same general concept.
People often get confused between self-worth and self-esteem. Self-worth comes first. Why? It is because of the reason, when someone is having low self-worth, then they will always see themselves as less worthy than others. With time this feeling becomes permanent for them. The amount they talk about themselves externally, they talk way more, about themselves internally.
Compared to self-esteem, self-worth may not have discussed extensively. But that doesn’t mean it is less important. It is at the core of our very selves—our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. So, how to increase it?
Self- worth means self-love. Do not compare yourself with others, be happy with yourself, trust your instincts, and have confidence in your potential. And with this positivity, you move forward in life and make the right decisions.
The opposite of this can be huge – Depression, anxiety, unhealthy competition, self-judgment, self-criticism, and tolerating unfair treatment from others (because you don’t see anything good in yourself) are a few of the consequences. Just imagine, if someone has to live with these, how scary can their mental health be?
Now, let’s talk about what we can do to increase self-worth. These thoughts anyone can have to increase their self-worth. If you want to have a serene effect then I suggest you to tune in to the podcast episode.
