“Because every picture tells a story”

Who says we need words to describe everything? Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. Sometimes one picture has the potential to say everything without using a single word. It can bring us back all the fun moments we had spent with our friends, sometimes it brings tears into our eyes seeing old photos, and sometimes it gives us a chance to re-live the best days of our life. Thanks to the technology which has given us the gift of photography. It not only allows us to explore the world through the lenses but also capture those moments.

 

 

Is careerin photography even possible? Why not? Photography has come a long way since its birth which was 1839,a date generally accepted as the birth year of practical photography.It is no longer just a hobby. It has become one of the flourishing career options for people who have an eye for beauty and who knows how to click the perfect angle. No wonders it is one of the careers in which not everyone makes their presence. People who are truly passionate about it and possess a keen eye for capturing the special moment on film reach to the top or at least make their work to stand out. Depending on the job, you’ll still need to put in plenty of hours of independent work, freelancing or even working for free to build up experience. It is not easy but not impossible. It’s just like any other career option – one has to invest time, effort and money towards getting their dream job.

 

Most of us know only a few areas such as portrait photographers, maternity photographers or wildlife photographers where photography is needed. But there are few more which are added to this list,

 

• Photo Journalist: They take pictures of people, places, and happenings for newspapers, magazines and other media. Photojournalism is a fast-paced career that brings different assignments every day.

 

• Forensic photographer: They work in conjunction with crime scene investigations at the local, state and federal level.

 

• Traveling photographer: This industry runs closely with the tourism business, one of the biggest markets on the planet, which made millions of artists pursue a career in this area.  There are so many travel destinations that are worth capturing in the pictures.

 

• Wedding and Portrait Photographer or Studio Photographer: They specialize in posed pictures of people and in capturing family moments.

 

• Maternity Photographer: As the name goes, it captures the maternity journey of the going-to-be mom. I got a chance to have a detailed conversation about this area of photography. I was surprised to see how detailed and different each photo shoot could be.

 

• Fashion Photographer: They take pictures of models wearing high-end fashion down the runway, commercial fashion in a studio or swimsuits on a beach.They should have a strong sense of fashion.

 

• Nature, Wildlife and Travel Photographer: They take pictures of diverse animals, landscapes, and destinations. Their specialty lies in documenting the beauty and the impact of nature and its inhabitants.

 

So, if you have the skill, desire, passion towards this career path then don’t stop yourself from exploring and documenting the world through photography. At least you can give it a try. After all, “Life is like a camera. Focus on what’s important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don’t work out just take another shot.”
