How EdTech can revolutionize India’s Public Schooling?

Today, when I look back and think about my school days, I realize we have come a long way in terms of our education system, teaching style, kids’ learning habits, etc. EdTech has started to show its presence in the education system. We have seen a significant shift in India’s education system in the last few years. Indian government and institutions are working hard to reform the education system, but there are a few areas that need to be taken care of like:

  1. Rote learning
  2. Evaluation system
  3. Equal importance to all the subjects
  4. Technology usage
  5. Student-teacher ratio

How EdTech can revolutionize India’s Public Schooling?
  1. Rote learning: The schools must be encouraged to introduce conceptual understanding, preventing students from mugging up what they are being taught.

2. Evaluation system: Marks still holds a significant place in evaluating the student. The pressure of marks often makes students underperform. The focus should not be confined to only marks but also on the overall participation of students.

3. Equal importance to all the subjects: Math and science still get the upper hand. Language, arts, and communication should also get equal importance. There are several career options in all these fields.

4. Technology usage: Technology and the education system cannot be kept apart. Students must be taught about technology right from the early years of their education. The same applies to teachers as well. Teachers should be given training in using the technology and also to use out-of-the-box teaching methods.

5. Student-Teacher ratio: With more than 30 students in one class, the teacher cannot give personalized attention to each student. With the use of technologies, teachers will get a helping hand, and the teaching will become more effective.

Teaching isn’t an easy job. And in the future, it is going to get more challenging. With an increase in competition, if public schools can incorporate technology into education, it will be a win-win for teachers and students.

EdTech is going to be our future. Teachers believe that technology will be an integral part of our future education system, so it is crucial to understand how EdTech can benefit both teachers and students.
