Last weekend, I came across one Melted beads project on Kids Activities Blog. I liked the Melted Beads Bowl a lot. For this bowl, the only material required is Perler Beads and a bowl. And your Melted Beads Bowl is ready. After trying out the bowl with my daughter, I started to think of some other similar projects for her. So, we thought of making Coasters. Again same two things – beads and bowls.
Perler Beads crafts are super cool. If you haven’t tried them yet then do try it. I can see many positive sides of this craft. Obviously, your child is able to create some beautiful patterns on their own but more important, they are so focused while creating them. Also, it teaches them about color combination and symmetry.
For Melted Beads Bowl
You will need:
- Perler Beads
- Bowl – Oven safe
- Cooking Spray
How to make it:
- Pre-heat the oven on 350 F.
- Spray your bowl with cooking spray. Take few beads and sprinkle them at the bottom of the bowl. Move them around to make a single layer. You can add more beads if you want. Since I was trying it first time, I decided to use less.
- Bake in the oven for 10 minutes or till the beads along the top have melted. Mine took 15 minutes.
- Once it is cool down, your Melted Beads Bowl will pop out. To remove the cooking spray, wash with soap.
Melted Beads Coasters:
- Perler Beads
- Small bowl – I used Ramekins
- Cooking Spray
Let’s start:
- Pre-heat the oven on 350 F.
- Spray your bowl with cooking spray. Take few beads and sprinkle them at the bottom of the bowl. We made a single layer.
- Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or till the beads starts melting.
- Allow them to cool. You can easily scoop out the coasters.
So, there you are. With just handful of beads your child has created two colorful projects : Bowl and Coasters.
