J: My Journey so far. the story of my journey began with new year’s eve

As I am writing this series about my experiences so far in the USA, I felt this post of this series should talk about my journey. In one line, my journey has been wonderful so far. It was a blend of funny moments, challenges, happy moments, proud moments, and many more. We will be talking about all of that in this post.

Don’t think that I am just saying this for the sake of saying that it was wonderful. I am saying this because I mean it, I have experienced it and still experiencing it every day. I came to the USA in 2006 after my marriage. I landed here on December 31st2006. New year in a new country. How exciting. Isn’t it? My sapno a rajkumar came from saat samandar paar, and with him, I flew back and landed in the USA. My introduction to this nation was quite interesting. I was welcomed by six guests who came to stay with us on the very next day of my arrival. I was still in a different world. Being miles away from my parents, having no clues from where I should start, I had to be a good host. Well, that wasn’t the expectation from me, but I cannot just assume it, right? My bags weren’t unpacked, my eyes were half-open, and my head was still spinning from a 21 hours flight. Luckily everything went well.

This country has taught me many things. The very first thing is coming out of my comfort zone. And believe me, this is a very important skill for everyone. By nature, I wasn’t an extrovert from the very beginning. I would instead call myself an introvert with a touch of an extrovert. I don know if  any such combination even exists? 🙂 It wasn’t that I would get nervous when talking to someone I don’t know. I always had many friends, but to me, opening up to a stranger was something unusual. But I used to take my own sweet time in opening up. But after I came here, everyone was a stranger to me. How they act, how they think was different. Their way of entertaining was different. But I understood one thing that I will have to let go of that introvert part of my personality if I have to make friends here. I joined an organization where I met ladies from all across the world. I volunteered at places where I got to meet many people. I got a chance to understand their personalities and ways to handle different traits.

I am yet to experience the corporate world here, but depending upon whatever I have experienced so far, people here are very sweet. They try to help you as much as they can. Another thing that I have learned in my journey is staying positive and not losing hope. Visa rules are pretty strict here. And unfortunately, my Visa falls in one of the trickiest categories. But that never stopped me from trying my hands on something else. Whenever I tell someone that I am a writer and author, they genuinely appreciate it. “It’s good that you didn’t stop yourself. You are utilizing your time smartly and making a name for yourself.” I often get to hear these words. Now when I am allowed to work, I decided to continue writing.

Coming here as a newly-wed and starting a new life here was equally exciting and challenging. But I am happy that I have created some good memories here, understood this country, seen and experienced different culture. I wish if you are someone like me reading this series would agree with me with the above points. We all create our own memory book and I am lucky to create one for me in USA. How did your journey started?
